SBI Foundation offers the SBIF Asha Scholarship Program for Overseas Education under its Integrated Learning Mission (ILM), provides financial aid to meritorious SC/ST students from low-income families in India. It supports those pursuing a master’s or postgraduate course at top universities abroad, offering scholarships of up to INR 20 lakh per year to ensure uninterrupted education.

Students can apply for the SBIF Asha Scholarship Program through the official portal. The details of the scholarship for students, including the eligibility, are given below:

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be Indian nationals of the Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories.
  • Must be pursuing a master’s or higher degree at a premier university abroad.
  • Must have secured 75% or above in the previous academic year.
  • The annual family income must be up to INR 6,00,000 to be eligible.

Note:

  • This scholarship applies to students admitted to top-ranked global universities, including those listed in QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education Rankings.
  • Preference is given to candidates with a family income of up to INR 3,00,000 per annum, and 100% of the slots for overseas education are reserved for SC/ST scholars.

Scholarship Amount

The scholarship covers up to INR 20,00,000 or 50% of course-related expenses, whichever is lower.

  • Academic Records: 10th & 12th Marksheet, Graduation & Master’s Degree (if applicable), Final Marksheet
  • Identification: Aadhaar Card, Passport, Passport Size Photograph
  • Financial Proof: Institute Fee Receipt, Bank Passbook, Family Income Proof, Education Loan/Sponsorship Letter
  • Test Scores: IELTS/TOEFL/Other English Proficiency Test, GRE/GMAT (if applicable)
  • Admission Documents: Offer/Acceptance Letter, Fee Structure, Statement of Purpose (SOP)
  • Legal & Other Certificates: Disability Certificate, Caste Certificate, Orphan Certificate, Divorce/Death Certificate/Affidavit
  • Visa Documentation: Country Visa for Study (if applicable)

  • Candidates have to visit the official website to apply. Follow the steps below.
  • Click on ‘Apply Now’ to start the process.
  • Log in to Buddy4Study using your registered ID or register via Email, Mobile, or Google if you’re new.
  • Access the SBIF Asha Scholarship Program application form page.
  • Click ‘Start Application’, fill in the required details, and upload relevant documents.
  • Accept the ‘Terms and Conditions’ before proceeding.
  • Preview your application, and ensure all details are correct.
  • Click ‘Submit’ to complete the application process.

SBI Asha Scholarship: Selection Process

  • The selection process is based on merit, and the authorities consider both financial conditions and academic performance for evaluation.
  • Shortlisted students have to go through a telephonic interview, followed by document verification.
  • After the candidate is selected to receive the financial support, the scholarship money will be transferred to the recipient’s bank accounts.

Ques. Can diploma students apply for the SBI Asha Scholarship?

Ans. Diploma students are not eligible for the SBI Asha Scholarship. This scholarship is exclusively for Indian SC/ST students pursuing a master’s or postgraduate degree at a top university abroad.

Ques. Is the SBI account mandatory for the SBI Asha Scholarship?

Ans. No, an SBI bank account is not mandatory. However, selected students may need to open an SBI account to receive funds. Also, any valid bank account can be used in the application.
